" ... Believe it, or not,
my 4' wood splitter [...], SC-48H with a 12 hp Kohler engine [...] is
still running. I have used for over probably twenty years to split
cordwood for my own use. The only thing that has failed is the
ignition system that allows the starter to engage. However, that is
not my present concern. I want to change both the hydraulic oil and
filter [...]. Since the exit hydraulic hose remains in very good
condition still [...] "

" Dear American Log Splitter
Representative, I am in the process of rebuilding a log splitter that I
built 25 years ago. I was a machinist at that time and had access to the
mill, etc. and could readily fabricate my own parts. I have been retired
many years now and my old splitter is in need of some parts that I can no
longer make. I was searching the Internet for the parts I need. During
that search I came upon your site. Although I had found parts available
for purchase from others, I was particularly impressed by the design of
your log pusher assembly and of your splitting wedge.[...] I did not see a
link to allow me to purchase parts so I thought I would ask via email. If
you will allow me to purchase these components [...] "

" Gentlemen: I bought one of
your logsplitters from [Name of dealer] last year and since day one I've had
trouble with the Honda 5.5 motor. It starts on the first pull almost
every time, runs for about 5 minutes then starts to surge up and down as if
asking for fuel then quits. I can start it right after this happens
and then the same thing happens. I have a time or two now and then
when it will run for longer but very rarely does this happen. Last
year I was able to split my supply of wood while living with this problem,
this year not so good, it's happening more often. Have you had this
problem with other Honda motors? Can I fix it easy or can I get a
replacement motor. I'm a true believer in American CLS, having been
splitting with them 20 years now and promote them to my friends.
PLEASE help me solve this problem once and for all. Winter is coming
;-) thank you sooooo much [Note: This customer had not
communicated the problem to us before but Honda honoured its warranty] |

" I have a 30 year old, 3 point
hitch tractor mounted "American" [American CLS] vertical wood splitter,
which has been a blessing. Recently an oil leak started near the bottom
hydraulic line and we expected it to be a loose fitting. Unfortunately the
bottom cylinder cap cracked. Do you have any spare parts, parts breakdown
or pricing for a replacement cap? I'm keeping my fingers crossed because we
love the splitter and need to use it. Thanks and happy splitting [A part
was sold to this customer] |

"Hello
[...] Thanks for the information on the pump housing shaft cover. My
new AM-25HH with the Honda engine works great. My only concern was

shopped around before I purchased your product and found the quality of
American CLS to be far superior. Thanks again. [...]"

request for Quote Hi Frederic: Have a
neighbour who is interested in getting a horizontal woodsplitter from you
similar to the one I purchased from you last fall. Can you give us a
price on a 36" horizontal woodsplitter, with the Wedge Backer and 4 way
Wedge. He is however, interested in the smaller pump which I believe
was a 12 gpm PTO pump. Can you confirm this? Please include
shipping charges with your quote as well. I have done quite a bit of
splitting with mine and have not had any problems. Shall attach a
short video of it [this short video clip is available upon request] , if I
can get it to work. Am not all that computer literate. As you
can see from the video, I am not all that great at pictures either.
Did not know how to work the video part so it kind of went all over the
place as well. Thank you in advance. [Note: a log splitter was
delivered to his neighbour in Dryden, Ontario in the Falll of 2007]" |

Info on older 1979 American log splitter Hi, I
recently picked up a used American [American CLS] log splitter and I am
looking for a parts or user manual for it. The splitter is similar in
design to the AM-24H. It has a 5hp Briggs and Stratton model #1300202
engine that was made in Feb. of 1979. The Hydraulic reservoir on it is
built into the wheel axle. This splitter is in very good condition and
it a testament to the quality of product that you make, any information that
you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated. In particular I
am looking on how to change the filter and hydraulic fluids on it.
Thanx, [...]" |

"Just thought I would drop you a short but warm note to let you know how
pleased I am with my [AM-24HH] M24HH splitter. I have been using it
for a period of time now and maybe have split 10 full cords of wood as of
this writing without a single problem. I guess the bottom line is, If
you can pick it up onto the splitter it will split it"! My unit has a
6 1/2 HP Briggs engine and at first I almost didn't buy the splitter as I
was worried about the motor, but to date it has worked fine, starts on the
first or second pull and I am pleased with it! Lots of people have
looked at it and it really looks great and think the four way splitter is a
nice feature. I do use the four way some of the time, but only on
diameter logs that split to the right size with the four way. At any
rate good job people and your efforts are certainly appreciated." |

vertical tractor splitter I have a American MSR
Woodsplitter [American CLS], this unit was one of the earlier models.
The operating handle which makes the piston go up & down is worn to the
point that it is difficult to use, as it slips out of place and it takes
some doing to get back in place. The unit is 30 years plus and still
works excellent, except the handle. Do you have a replacement handle
or a conversion for this as I see it looks different now. Thanks for
your assistance, [...]" |

After 3 seasons with it I still love it. It could use a 22 gpm pump and a hydraulic wedge lift though [referring to the specs on the AM-26HW]. Ha Ha! I see on the spec sheet the 26-ST [AM-26HW] is going to have a 14" wedge. Any thoughts on increasing the push block size?
